Citywide Stock the Station Food Drive to Start Tues., Nov. 12

We have kicked-off our 9th Annual Stock the Station Food Drive that will help Tulsans in need this holiday season. The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma (CFBEO) will be the recipient of food and donations collected by the food drive and will be able to deliver goods to 111 Partner Programs located in Tulsa proper. Residents can drop-off non-perishable food items to any Tulsa Fire Station, Tulsa Police Station, Tulsa City-County Regional Library or Tulsa City Hall from Nov. 12 - Dec. 13.

1921 Graves Test Excavation at Oaklawn Cemetery Complete

The test excavation to uncover potential mass graves from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre within the Sexton area at Oaklawn Cemetery, where an anomaly was previously discovered, concluded today. Following eight days of searching, findings indicate no evidence of human remains are present in the excavation area.

Because of Tulsans support for our education system and Vision Tulsa funding, 17 schools now have new sidewalks, crosswalks, speed humps and ADA-compliant curb ramps! Through the Safety First Initiative, $14.5 million is dedicated to 82 public school sites.

Tulsa Animal Welfare Closed Indefinitely to Address Cases of Distemper

City of Tulsa Animal Welfare (TAW) staff is taking proactive measures to stop the spread of canine distemper virus (CDV) following confirmation of several recent cases. TAW will be closed indefinitely while it works to treat animals and prevent further spread.

Nonprofit Arts Organizations Invited to Apply for Vision Arts Grants

Local nonprofit arts organizations are invited to apply for the next round of grants from the Vision Arts program managed by the City of Tulsa, Tulsa Arts Commission and Tulsa Planning Office. Nov. 30 is the deadline for applications for these grants funded through the Vision Tulsa sales tax. A total of $2,250,000 was approved by voters in 2016 as part of the Vision Tulsa capital package to support the arts in Tulsa and enhance their economic impact.

Groundbreaking Held for Vision Tulsa Project- Zink Dam Modifications

Mayor G.T. Bynum, City Councilor Phil Lakin and Tulsa County District 2 Commissioner Karen Keith held a groundbreaking August 13, for the Vision Tulsa Project – Zink Dam Modifications. Also speaking at the event was Gordy Guest, Tulsa Regional Chamber Vice Chair of Community Development. The event was held on the river bank trail at the Gathering Place, with a view of the old Zink Dam.
