City Hall and other City facilities will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, for the New Year’s holiday.
Mayor G.T. Bynum and forensic scientists and genealogists from Intermountain Forensics, the laboratory assisting the City with DNA analysis for the 1921 Graves Investigation, announced a historic update as it relates to the DNA and genealogical investigation from the 2021 and 2022 excavations and exhumations at Oaklawn Cemetery.
City Hall, Municipal Court and other City facilities will be closed on Friday, April 2, for Good Friday. Public safety and mission critical operations, however, will operate as normal.
Mayor G. T. Bynum and the Mass Graves Investigation Public Oversight Committee will hold its first public meeting on Thursday, June 27, 5:30 p.m. at the 36th Street Event Center, 1125 E. 36th St. N., to discuss plans to begin the investigative process into the potential mass graves search from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. The first meeting was originally scheduled in May but had to be rescheduled due to severe weather in Tulsa.

A WNBA basketball goal used by the Tulsa Shock, the former marquee from the BOK Center, and distinctive coin collections will be among the many items up for bids at the next City of Tulsa Surplus Property Auction. The auction will be held Saturday, April 27, at the City of Tulsa surplus property facility, 108 N. Trenton Ave., beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The Tulsa City Councilors voted and approved a citywide addendum to the City’s existing mask ordinance, which lowers the age requirement for those who are required to wear a mask from ages 18 and over to ages 10 and over.
Due to the COVID-19 threat, the test excavation will be postponed until it is safe to continue. Travel restrictions and shelter in place orders have been instituted across the country and the City received guidance provided by the University of Oklahoma, the team leading the research, to postpone the test excavation. Once it is safe to continue, the City will provide an update once a new date is scheduled.
The City of Tulsa is hosting City Hall on the Go (CHOTG) on Wednesday, November 8, from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Route 66 Historical Village, 3770 Southwest Boulevard.
Mayor G.T. Bynum announced the City of Tulsa and USA BMX have reached an agreement to secure a 30-year commitment in Tulsa. Through funding provided by voters in Vision Tulsa, the City will construct a new National Headquarters, National Track Stadium containing both an Olympic-caliber and Amateur Track, and Hall of Fame Museum at the Evans Fintube site in Tulsa.
The Public Oversight Committee for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Investigation met March 2 to discuss the feasibility plan from the Oklahoma Archaeological Survey regarding the test excavation at Oaklawn Cemetery, which is expected to begin on April 1 and take approximately 10 days.
