The City of Tulsa is continuing to test operations at Zink Lake, with kayaking and surfing testing now underway in the whitewater flume.
While Zink Lake, the whitewater flume, and the pedestrian bridge Williams Crossing remain closed, Tulsans may notice activity in the flume this week as work is underway to test flume operations and fine-tune the wave-shapers.
Zink Lake and Williams Crossing will open Labor Day Weekend 2024 with a four-day event consisting of multiple activities. More information on that celebration can be found online.
Using an adaptive approach, the water quality dashboard, which is the only dashboard of its kind in state of Oklahoma, is continuing to be updated and adjusted based on trends and community needs. In its current state, the front page of the dashboard gives an overview of how to interpret trends and subsequent pages give Tulsans data on important indicators of water quality. To create data for advisories that is more real-time and predictive, the City is looking at historical readings and comparing them against real-time data being collected at Zink Lake.
The City of Tulsa will continue to enhance the dashboard for public use as opening weekend approaches and community meetings and events will be held this summer to include community education for Zink Lake.
