Tulsa Response: Storm Update 1 - August 6

City of Tulsa emergency operations is working through the early morning hours to help with disaster response from an early morning wind storm. At approximately 1:18 a.m. damaging winds hit midtown Tulsa, between S. 40th E. Ave – S. 47th E. Ave., Yale to Mingo.

Public safety and City crews are on site assessing damage. Thirteen people have been transported by EMSA to area hospitals. Several businesses have received damage, and there are reports of residential damage on S. 46th Place, 87th Street – 93rd Street, consisting mainly of trees and roof damage.

Structural assessments will begin by City of Tulsa building inspectors as the sun comes up.

PSO is working to restore power to Tulsa homes and facilities. Currently, 11,121 customers are without power. PSO urges citizens to stay away from downed power lines as lines could be live. Citizens can report downed lines to PSO, (888) 218-3919.

In addition to the storm-damage area, traffic lights are down at 41st and Yale and 46th and Memorial.

Citizens are urged to stay away from the affected area to allow crews to work.
