Tulsa Parks Golf Courses Begin New Era Under New Management

4/1/2025

Starting today, operations at Page Belcher and Mohawk Park Golf Courses will officially transition to new leadership, marking an exciting chapter for Tulsa’s public golf scene.

Both courses will open under the management of a team led by Nick Sidorakis, who brings nearly three decades of championship-level experience from Southern Hills Country Club, and Randy Heckenkemper, a nationally known golf course architect.

“I’m excited for the future of golf in Tulsa, and I’m eager to see multiple improvements underway that are making Tulsa one of the best places to play golf in the region,” Mayor Monroe Nichols said. “I couldn’t be more confident in the leadership of Nick and Randy, and I’m extremely thankful to have one of the best parks directors in the business – Anna America – creating a bright path forward for the future of Tulsa Parks and Tulsa golf.”

The transition is the result of a long-standing collaboration between Sidorakis and the City of Tulsa.

“When we first talked to Nick and his team five years ago, it was clear they had a passion not just for golf, but for making public courses better, said Anna America, the City’s Deputy City Administrator and Director of Parks, Culture, and Recreation. “They’ve already made a big impact at Page Belcher, and we’re confident this new partnership will bring even greater improvements to both courses.”

“We’re really excited about the opportunity that presented itself to us, and we’re honored to be selected to operate these two facilities,” Sidorakis said. “We want to make a difference in public golf. We want to improve course conditions, enhance service, and uplift these facilities to be the best in Tulsa – if not the state.”

Since 2020, Sidorakis and his team have invested more than $700,000 in improvements at Page Belcher, including sodding over 16 acres, removing nearly 200 trees, and transforming a number of holes.

“We also raised $1 million in private funds, which the City of Tulsa matched,” Sidorakis said. “That allowed us to complete a full bunker renovation at Page Belcher, redoing 50 bunkers and making a major impact on the playing experience.”

Mark Butler will serve as Director of Golf, overseeing the day-to-day operations and expanding programming for youth, women, and new players through lessons and clinics.

Sidorakis, who began working at Southern Hills in 1995 and has overseen eight major championships including the U.S. Open and two PGA Championships, said public golf has always been close to his heart.

“If I couldn’t play in a major, I wanted to run one. But now, I’m just as passionate about improving public golf opportunities here in Tulsa,” he said. “This isn’t just about grass and bunkers, it’s about creating a welcoming, high-quality experience for every golfer who walks onto these courses.”

The transition will be seamless for regular players.

“We want to uplift the team as much as the facilities,” Sidorakis added. “We’re focused on driving rounds and revenue and putting that directly back into the courses to make continuous improvements. You’re going to see changes weekly, monthly – it’s going to take time, but we’re excited about the direction we’re headed.”
