Tulsa Animal Welfare has a new initiative in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society to increase the number of animals saved in Tulsa. The initiative aims to encourage rescue organizations to transfer to rescue medium-sized, mixed-breed dogs (weighing over 35 lbs.) from March 1 - 17.
Under the initiative, organizations that meet the criteria will receive $100 per dog and $150 per dog that requires extensive documented medical care. Best Friends Animal Society will provide the funding, which will be sent by check through the post office. The maximum funding is $10,000, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
"We are excited to partner with Best Friends Animal Society and increase our lifesaving efforts in Tulsa," said Sherri Carrier, Manager of Tulsa Animal Welfare. "We hope this program will encourage more organizations to join us in our mission to save more animal lives."
To qualify for the program, organizations must be a 501(c)3 and provide a mailing address, email, phone number, and EIN to Tulsa Animal Welfare. Organizations must pick up animals by the end of the day on March 17, 2024, to qualify for this incentive.
"We are thrilled to support Tulsa Animal Welfare in their efforts to increase their lifesaving rate," Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society, said. "We hope this program will inspire other communities to develop innovative ways to save more animal lives."
