A street rehabilitation project will begin Monday, Sept. 18, on East 51st Street between South Sheridan Road and South Memorial Drive. Work will occur on half of the mile at a time, starting between Sheridan Road and South 76th East Avenue. Blue business access signs will be posted at driveways to businesses.

During the project, traffic will be limited to one eastbound lane and one westbound lane in the work area. In mid-November, work is scheduled to move to the other half of the mile – between 76th East Avenue and Memorial Drive. Completion of the project is scheduled for January 2018, weather permitting.

The project will consist of milling, or removing the old asphalt surface, patching the concrete underneath, and paving with 3 inches of new asphalt. All storm sewer inlets and 50 percent of the sidewalk will be replaced.

The City of Tulsa has contracted with Becco Contractors Inc. for this $943,000 project. Funding comes from the 2014 General Obligation Bond (Improve Our Tulsa).
