A street rehabilitation project will begin Tuesday, Sept. 3, on East 15th Street, between South Lewis Avenue and South Utica Avenue. This is the first part of a project that includes 15th Street between Lewis Avenue and South Peoria Avenue.

During construction between Lewis and Utica avenues, one eastbound lane and one westbound lane will remain open. Access to all businesses will be maintained.

This project includes milling, patching and a top asphalt overlay. Milling typically involves removal of the top 2 inches to 3 inches of asphalt material. Patching is a full-depth pavement repair, extending down into the subgrade, adding a compacted base layer of aggregate, and then replacing the pavement layers. Overlay typically involves replacement of the top 2 inches to 3 inches of asphalt, providing a fresh, smooth driving surface.

Other elements of this project include the following:

Construction on 15th Street between Lewis and Utica avenues is scheduled for completion in December. In January 2020, construction on 15th Street will move to between Utica and Peoria avenues. Completion of the project between Utica and Peoria is scheduled for October 2020.

The City of Tulsa has contracted with Crossland Heavy Contractors for this $5,730,000 project, funded by the 2014 Improve Our Tulsa sales tax.
