Damage Assessment
The Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency (TAEMA) surveyed the damage from the storm event and determined seven homes and one church had major damage, 17 homes had minor damage and 10 homes and one apartment complex were affected (primary structure was not damaged, but trees and limbs were down). Most properties reported they were insured.
TAEMA has turned the damage assessment over to the American Red Cross and they will reach out to residents to provide assistance, if needed.
Special Greenwaste Pick-Up
City of Tulsa Streets and Stormwater crews will begin a special greenwaste removal for residents affected by the April 26 severe storms.
The City of Tulsa will make one greenwaste sweep for residents in two cleanup zones from Tuesday, May 3 - Friday, May 6 beginning at 7 a.m. each day. The boundary areas for the special greenwaste removal include:
West of the Arkansas River from 41st St. to I44, 33rd West Ave. to the Arkansas River Online map
Greenwaste should be within four feet of the curb and residents must avoid placing greenwaste near utilities and fire hydrants. The City cannot pick up greenwaste from the curb if it is contaminated with other debris.
For residents that need to dispose of storm debris, bulky waste service is available at no cost for residents in the affected areas through Friday, May 27. Residents can call (918) 596-9777 to request a bulky waste service. Storm debris should not be placed in the refuse or recycling carts.
(Note: Residents affected by the tornado in north Tulsa have through May 18 to receive bulky waste service for storm debris at no cost.)
Residents near the two affected areas that do not fall within the identified boundaries and believe they should qualify for the special greenwaste removal can call (918) 596-9777.
The City of Tulsa Mulch Site is also available for free for Tulsa residents year-round. Yard waste can be dropped off at the City Mulch Facility, 2100 N. 145th E. Ave. every day from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., except for holidays. Participants must show a current City of Tulsa utility bill or a driver's license with a Tulsa address.
