A street rehabilitation project will begin Monday, Feb. 5, on South Union Avenue between West 41st Street and West 51st Street. For approximately the first three months of the project, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction between West 47th Street and West 51st Street.
After the first three months of the project, work will move to the section between West 47th Street and West 41st Street. Traffic on this section also will be limited to one lane in each direction.
The project consists of milling, or removing the old surface of the road; patching underneath the surface where needed, and repaving the road with a new layer of asphalt. A new 12-inch waterline will be installed as part of this project, and sidewalks will be added on both sides of the road.
The City of Tulsa has contracted with Tri-Star Construction for this $3.4 million project, funded by the 2008 Third Penny Sales Tax (Fix Our Streets). Completion of the project is scheduled for November 2018.
