North Tulsa Census Caravan Planned for Sept. 19
In an effort to boost 2020 Census response rates, the Tulsa Regional Complete Count Committee is hosting a “2020 Census Caravan” on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10:20 a.m. to noon in North Tulsa.
Participants will meet in the parking lot of Wesley Chapel, 2750 North MLK Jr. Blvd., to decorate cars at 10:20 a.m. They will then drive north through the neighborhoods toward Turley, encouraging people along the route to participate in the census. The caravan will end at Turley Assembly of God Church, 6301 N. Peoria Ave. Tulsa, OK.
The 2020 Census is crucial for bringing resources for healthcare, roads and education to the city and the region. The caravan is an effort to get everyone counted.
Caravan participants will be wearing masks and observing social distancing along the parade route.
In the City of Tulsa, 62.8 percent of households have responded to the 2020 Census – a few percentage points away from its 2010 response rate, which was just under 65 percent.
Currently, citizens have until the end of September to respond to the Census.
