Last month, the City of Tulsa announced a series of Community Conversations during April and May as part of the Mayor’s efforts to bring local government directly into Tulsa neighborhoods. During each event, residents will hear brief updates from the Mayor, City Council and City Auditor, followed by an opportunity for one-on-one conversations with City department leaders and staff.
The first-of-five Community Conversations will be held in South Tulsa and hosted by Mayor Monroe Nichols, District 8 Council Chair and City Councilor Phil Lakin, Jr., and other City leaders on Tuesday, April 22, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Hardesty Regional Library, Frossard Auditorium, 8316 E. 93rd St., Tulsa, OK, 74133.
“I’m eager to bring the voice and resources of the City directly to our neighbors in South Tulsa for the first Community Conversation in our series of conversations across the city,” Mayor Nichols said. “These dialogues are essential to building trust, sharing ideas, and ensuring that we open up a direct line of communication with residents across our city.”
“Community conversations are mighty important events,” Council Chair and District 8 City Councilor Phil Lakin, Jr. said. “Not only will the Mayor, City Auditor, and I briefly share some citywide and district specific goals, residents can directly engage with a myriad of department leaders - traffic, water, roads, zoning, housing, sewer, etc. - to ask questions and provide feedback.  If a person has any interest in city government at all, or any city needs whatsoever, then I urge them to attend.”

Each Community Conversation event will include a welcome from Mayor Nichols, City Councilors and the City Auditor with citywide updates, followed by an open-house-style, one-on-one time with City leadership. Public safety and public works equipment will be on display, and residents will be able to speak directly with City officials and meet the following departments and City staff:

The series will continue in East, West, Midtown, and North Tulsa through May 19. While all meetings are open to the public, residents are encouraged to attend the event closest to where they live.
