August 14, 2018 - In time for school starting this week, East 101st Street is opening today to two-way traffic between Riverside Parkway and South Yale Avenue. Some street rehabilitation work remains, however, on 101st Street between Jamestown and Marion avenues, and workers will be flagging traffic when necessary until the project is completed in December.
Access to the Silver Chase neighborhood will change to Jamestown Avenue.
Completed work on this street rehabilitation project between Florence and Yale avenues includes the following:
- Installation of a storm sewer box, an adjacent sanitary sewer line and a waterline
- Lowered elevation of the road west of Louisville Avenue
- Right-turn lane added for access to Jenks Middle School just east of Florence Avenue
- Construction of two retaining walls on the south side of the street
- Some sidewalks added
- Road repaved from Florence Avenue to Jamestown Avenue and from Marion Avenue to Yale Avenue
Remaining work on this project includes the following:
- Constructing two retaining walls on the north side of the street
- Repaving the road from Jamestown Avenue to the north leg of Louisville Avenue
- Adding a left-turn lane at Louisville Avenue
- Adding more sidewalks
The City of Tulsa has contracted with Becco Contractors Inc. for this nearly $12 million project funded by the 2008 General Obligation Bond Issue (Fix Our Streets).
