Citizens may review and comment on the City of Tulsa’s Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives to remove asbestos from the Diamond Building at 1720 S. Boulder Ave., also known as the former Abundant Life Building. The analysis document is posted on the City website at www.cityoftulsa.org/brownfields

The 30-day comment period begins today, Feb. 28. Comments may be submitted by email to brownfields@cityoftulsa.org

With plans to redevelop this brownfield site, the current owner of the property is applying for a loan from the City of Tulsa’s Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund to use for asbestos removal from the Diamond Building. The public comment period is required before the loan is finalized.

As soon as the loan is closed, asbestos cleanup can begin at the Diamond Building. The property owner also is securing a loan from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality to assist with this project. The work will be done primarily this year, possibly finishing by the end of the year or soon afterward.
