Because of a forecast of likely inclement weather this Saturday, the 24th Annual Creek Cleanup has been rescheduled for May 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Joe Creek in Graham Park, 6410 S. Yorktown Ave.
Volunteers are welcome to participate in this event. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the site. Cleanup supplies such as gloves and bags will be provided to participants. Rib Crib will provide lunch (while quantities last). Other fun activities will include raffle drawings and prizes for the most unusual collected trash item.
The annual cleanup is part of the City of Tulsa’s stormwater quality program, to reduce pollution in Tulsa’s creeks. Besides litter, pollutants such as household chemicals, car vehicle fluids, grass clippings, and even pet waste can impact Tulsa’s streams.
The City of Tulsa aggressively takes action to improve the health of Tulsa streams through surface water quality monitoring and enforcement programs, infrastructure improvements, the watershed characterization program and public education programming.
