June 25, 2018 - For the Vision Tulsa project – Public Schools Safety First Initiative, the City Streets and Stormwater Department has begun to install pedestrian safety improvements near 18 schools over the summer of 2018. Improvements include sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalk striping and signage, and speed humps.
The schools include the following:
Work has been completed at McLain 7th Grade Academy, and crews currently are working at Jackson, Mark Twain and Clinton West elementary schools. Work at these 18 schools is scheduled for completion in early August, in time for the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.
Jenks Schools locations will be included with Tulsa and Union Schools in a group of 25 schools that will be next to receive improvements. A design contract for these next 25 school locations should be approved in the coming weeks.
