Because extremely cold temperatures are forecast for later this week, the closure of East 41st Street on the west leg of its intersection with South Peoria Avenue has been postponed for one week - to Jan. 17. This closure will be for installation of a storm sewer through the intersection in the southbound driving lanes of Peoria. The road closure is estimated to last two weeks. A detour will direct traffic to use Riverside Drive either north or south of 41st Street.
This is part of the street rehabilitation project in progress on South Peoria Avenue between East 41st Street and Interstate 44, near East 51st Street. The project consists of milling - removing the old surface of the road, patching underneath the surface where needed, and paving with a new asphalt overlay. Other elements include stormwater drainage improvements to accommodate a 1-percent chance of flooding in any given year, new waterlines, and new traffic signals at 41st Street and 45th Place.
The City of Tulsa has contracted with Becco Contractors for this $5,785,000 Improve Our Tulsa project. Completion of this project is scheduled for summer 2024.
