City officials gave an update today to the Tulsa City Council on Zink Lake’s construction status and the development of a water quality plan for the lake and flume.
Zink Lake is a 2.5-mile recreational attraction located next to Gathering Place and is the product of the $48 million, voter-approved Vision Tulsa Zink Dam project. Zink Lake is set to open along with the new Pedestrian Bridge, Williams Crossing, on Labor Day 2024.
Unlike the old Zink Dam which offered little waterfront access, the new Zink Dam and east bank improvements will provide visitors the opportunity to be closer to the water. There will be designed plazas and walkways so people using River Parks trails can easily access Zink Lake. Because Tulsa voters approved $5 million for Zink Lake infrastructure through the Improve Our Tulsa renewal in August, additional restrooms, access points, amenities and parking spaces are being planned.
All programming and operations at Zink Lake are subject to an operations agreement with River Parks Authority. All water activities are continuing to be discussed as the water quality plan and guidance procedures are developed.

Water Quality Plan Development
The water quality plan will define the testing, testing areas, frequency, and how the information will be shared with the public. The draft water quality plan is due in December of 2023 with testing to begin when water is impounded in Zink Lake and after HF Sinclair completes its west bank project.
