City of Tulsa Offers Free Firewood for Residents

12/6/2024
As colder weather moves in, the City of Tulsa is offering free firewood to Tulsa residents at the City's Mulch Site, 2100 N. 145th East Ave.
The firewood, which comes from the ongoing removal of damaged and fallen trees throughout the city, is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents are encouraged to bring their own trucks, trailers, or containers to transport the firewood. Residents of Broken Arrow, Bixby, and Jenks may also use the City's mulch site. A driver's license or current city utility bill from the municipality you live in, or a manifest from your community, must be presented to receive the free service.
“The free firewood program is part of our efforts to reuse natural resources and provide valuable services to the community,” said Philip Eakes, Refuse & Recycling Manager for the City of Tulsa. “Not only does it help residents save money on heating costs, but it also reduces waste by repurposing trees that would otherwise be disposed of.”

*No Commercial Haulers on Sunday*
Residents must load their own firewood and should bring tools or equipment to help with loading.
Please note that the firewood is untreated and may contain bark, dirt, or other natural debris. While it is ideal for outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, and wood-burning stoves, residents should ensure the firewood is properly dried before using it indoors to minimize smoke hazards.
The City of Tulsa also encourages residents to practice safety when burning wood and check the City of Tulsa burn ban status. Keep firepits or fireplaces a safe distance from homes and other structures, and never leave fires unattended.
More information on the free firewood program or other services available at the Tulsa Mulch Site is available online.
