The City of Tulsa is recognizing National Community Development Week, April 21-25, to highlight the impact of national housing and community development programs in Tulsa.
As part of the week, Mayor Nichols proclaimed April 21-25 as Community Development Week in the city of Tulsa.
Each year, funding from the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development supports a variety of programs that enhance economic opportunities, expand affordable housing and improve the quality of life for Tulsa residents.
Through Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and the Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), the City partners with nonprofit organizations and community groups every year to provide essential services.
During Program Years 2022 and 2023, CDBG and HOME funds helped 16,185 Tulsans through a range of projects, including nonprofit initiatives, public facility improvements, housing rehabilitation, property demolitions and first-time homebuyer assistance. In the current Program Year 2025, funding allocations exceeding $6 million have been recommended for 29 new activities across 23 external agencies and two city departments.
