This morning, Mayor G.T. Bynum, Tulsa Parks officials, Jane A. Malone, and other city officials broke ground on a new community pool at Chamberlain Park.
The $3.4 million project is made possible through the third installment of Improve Our Tulsa. Construction is expected to take roughly 10 months, and the pool is expected to be complete in time for the 2025 pool season.
"As we undergo the largest period of upgrades and renovations at sports courts and playgrounds in Tulsa Parks history, I am excited for us to start construction on this pool project at Chamberlain Park," Mayor Bynum said. "I want to thank Tulsans for their continued commitment to our parks system, as well as so many others working to make Tulsa the best city it can be for parks in America."
The new pool facility, which is located at 4940 N. Frankfort Ave. and will replace the nearby pool at Berry Park, will include a bathhouse, equipment buildings, and security/lighting features.
"At least on a hot summer day, a public swimming pool is one of the most fun things that we offer a community, so it’s exciting to be building a new one here for this neighborhood," said Anna America, the City's Chief of Parks, Culture, and Recreation. "I can’t wait until we have this pool done and the new center and the other park renovations – Chamberlain will be one of the best parks in the entire city."
Other City Parks with pools that have undergone upgrades over the last eight years include:
The 2024 Tulsa Parks pool season opens June 1. Open pools will include Lacy, Whiteside, Reed, and McClure.
