The Animal Welfare Commission will host a public forum on March 13 at 6 p.m. during a special meeting to hear from residents on how they think the new animal shelter can best meet the needs of Tulsa residents.

The meeting will feature:

The meeting will be held in the 10th Floor North Conference Room of Tulsa City Hall, 175 E. 2nd St.

On March 1, the Tulsa City Council approved Mayor Bynum's $6.1 million budget amendment to provide full funding for the new animal shelter. Tulsa voters originally approved $2.7 million for the shelter in the 2013 Improve Our Tulsa package and an additional $2 million in the 2019 Improve Our Tulsa renewal package. The City Council Animal Welfare Working Group, who has been working closely with City leaders and the Animal Welfare Commission, is looking forward to hearing from residents at this forum.

Feedback will be considered as the Tulsa Animal Welfare team moves forward with design and operational details for the new shelter.
