Customers can shop free of charge from new or lightly used products collected at the Household Pollutant Collection Facility. Swap Shop programs are common in many collection facilities across the country as it allows products to be used for what it was manufactured for and saves municipalities on disposal costs.
Items that are frequently collected at the facility include: household cleaners, fertilizers, motor oil, pesticides, spray paint and windshield washer fluid.
Up to five items can be taken free of charge from the Swap Shop with a signed customer agreement.
The HPCF is located at 4502 S. Galveston Ave. and is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. - 11:30, Noon - 4:30 p.m.
