Tulsa Women's Commission

The Tulsa Women’s Commission is a group of mayoral appointed volunteers established by City Ordinance. The Commission primarily serves in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and City Council by conducting research, recommending policies, programs, and initiatives, and directly advocating for women in the Tulsa area.

The Tulsa Women’s Commission is staffed by The Mayor's Office of Resilience and Equity (MORE) and contributes to the City of Tulsa's Resilience Strategy pillar to build an inclusive future that honors all Tulsans and celebrates our diversity. The Resilience Plan serves as a roadmap to address Tulsa's most pressing challenges and seeks to build capacity among residents, city systems, and community partners to build a more resilient and equitable city.

The Commission is made up of 15 members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The commission has 5 standing committees which include:

Past Initiatives

Pay Equity Pledge - Women in Tulsa County still only earn 84 cents to every dollar earned by men. To combat this inequality, the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women created the a "Pay Equity Pledge," which is designed to highlight employers who are committed to closing this gap. Companies and organizations that take the Mayor’s Pay Equity Pledge agree to: 1) Ban questions about previous salary history to candidates for hire or promotion; 2) Commit to ongoing diversity, equity, and inclusion training for employees responsible for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and promoting; and 3) Review employee pay to ensure compliance with the Equal Pay Act
