Recognition of Excellence

Through nomination by a supervisor or co-worker, City of Tulsa employees can be recognized for their commitment to teamwork, excellence in their work, professional growth and development, outstanding customer service, and other acts that demonstrate a dedication to public-service. If you have noticed an employee who you feel should be recognized for their excellent work as a City employee, please nominate them for the Employee Recognition of Excellence.  

Nominations will be reviewed by a committee that includes Human Resources, Communications, the nominee's supervisor, and the nominees Department head to ensure that nominated employee is in good standing and meets the subsequent criteria. Nominees will be awarded a certificate and be highlighted on the City of Tulsa website, City Connections weekly employee newsletter, and on City of Tulsa social media pages. 

Employees can be recognized for the following actions: 

  1. Commitment to Teamwork: Employee shows an elevated commitment to teamwork which includes going beyond their normal duties to support their coworkers. Employee demonstrates a collaborative spirit, supports colleagues by fostering a positive team environment, and takes initiative to help others succeed.  
  2. Excellence in Work: Employee demonstrates a high level of work performed and consistently produces high-quality work that exceeds expectations. Employee achieves outstanding results in their work projects and surpasses designated goals. Employee initiates organizational changes that result in a positive impact on multiple employees, divisions, or departments throughout the City. 
  3. Professional Growth and Development: Employee shows commitment to professional growth and career advancement within the City through external training opportunities, certifications, or advanced education. Employees should be recognized at the completion of a course, program, or training that is not a requirement for their current role or part of their progression program.  
  4. Outstanding Customer Service: Employee goes above and beyond to meet customer needs and expectations which results in problem solving and a positive outcome. Employee demonstrates a high level of empathy, patience, and professionalism when interacting with a customer. Employee executes a new initiative that improves their ability to interact with customers and increases customer satisfaction.  
  5. Dedication to Public Service: Shows a high level of dedication to public service through years of service and ethical behavior, integrity, and transparency in their work. Employee makes significant contributions that positively impact the community we serve, and the daily interactions residents have with the City.
