918 Day (Sept. 18) is almost here and the City of Tulsa has a variety of options for Tulsans to get involved as we celebrate our city’s diversity and growth. The City launched 918 Day in 2018 as part of the Resilient Tulsa Strategy, which calls for increasing social cohesion by facilitating connections and community-building in all corners of the city. This year’s theme is, “Rising Through Resilience.” To celebrate 918 Day, the Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity (MORE) will host a variety of activities, many of which are virtual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These volunteers deliver Alzheimer’s Association Core Curriculum using prepared training materials on topics related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias as well as information for individuals and families impacted by the disease.
The City of Tulsa is responding to a winter weather event moving through the area today and tomorrow. Crews started 24-hour response starting around midnight this morning. Crews are working 12-hour shifts throughout the event. Brine (salt/water mix) was used overnight to pre-treat the roads, with crews having turned to salt application this morning. Plows are at the ready and may be utilized this afternoon if further sleet buildup occurs.

The Public Oversight Committee for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Investigation met March 2 to discuss the feasibility plan from the Oklahoma Archaeological Survey regarding the test excavation at Oaklawn Cemetery, which is expected to begin on April 1 and take approximately 10 days.
Tulsa’s water won the Drinking Water Tasting Contest this week at the Oklahoma Water & Pollution Control Conference at Rose State College, Midwest City.
Mayor G.T. Bynum has named Keri Fothergill as Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Tulsa effective July 25. Fothergill will serve in Mayor’s Bynum’s cabinet and manage the Customer Care, Human Resources, Information Technology, Municipal Courts and Working in Neighborhoods departments.
