About Tulsa's Children's Mental Health Initiative
The Tulsa Children’s Mental Health Initiative is being led by the Chief Mental Health Officer, the CMHI Grant Coordinator, the Lead Family Coordinator, and the governance team.
Tulsa CMHI Goals
- Create the governance team and begin building infrastructure that will support the System of Care for children, youth, and families in Tulsa at risk for or with Serious Emotional Disturbances (SED) / Serious Mental Illness (SMI).
- Decrease the amount of children/youth with SED / SMI who visit the Tulsa Emergency Rooms for behavioral health problems.
- Increase the access to culturally appropriate, evidence-based services for crisis stabilization, intensive home and community-based, and intensive case management.
- Increase youth and family voice, leadership, and support services in the City of Tulsa.
- Increase the number of pediatric primary care and Emergency Room providers to address youth suicide prevention and mental health crisis.
About the Governance Board:
Tulsa’s Children’s Mental Health Initiative (TCMHI)Governance Team (GT) is required as part of the SAMHSA System of Care grant Tulsa received. Governance Team members are responsible for building infrastructure including accountability, financing, managing care and costs, and inter-agency partnerships.
