Backyard service is collection service provided between 5-100 ft. from the curb. Extended backyard service is collection service provided that is more than 101 ft. from the curb.
How long will it take for my refuse and recycling to be collected once I report a missed collection?
It will take no longer than 72 hours (3 business days) from the time called for the City of Tulsa to service a missed collection.
Will my trash and/or recycling be collected on holidays?
There will be no residential refuse and recycling collection service on the following City-observed holidays: New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. (Holiday Schedule)

No. Refuse will only be collected in the gray cart provided by the City of Tulsa.

To dispose of trash that does not fit inside your refuse cart, please bag the trash and apply an orange 'Extra Refuse' sticker to each bag. Bags must not exceed 40 pounds in weight. Extra Refuse stickers may be purchased at City Hall, 175 E. 2nd St. or at any area QT location in Tulsa.
What do I do if I have large items that do not fit inside of my refuse cart or in a bag?

Yes, trash must be substantially bagged (per ordinance).

Can I bag shredded paper and place the bag in my recycling cart?
Yes. You must place it in a sealed paper sack or sealed transparent plastic bag to assist with litter control. Shredded paper is the only item that may be bagged and placed in your recycling cart.
Do I have to flatten my aluminum cans before placing in my recycling cart?
Please do not crush or flatten aluminum cans before placing inside your recycling cart as doing so may interfere with the recycling recovery process.
What is yard waste?
Yard waste is defined as organic or garden material such as leaves, grass, plants, branches and hedge trimmings.

Will the City of Tulsa collect yard waste that is placed outside of my refuse cart if it is not placed in a transparent bag?
Excluding bundles, the hauler will only collect yard waste that is placed in a transparent bag so that the contents may be verified to ensure proper disposal.

Yes. A $10 charge will be applied to a customer's utility bill for a bulky waste collection per eight cubic yards. This fee is not assessed per item but rather the volume of approximately eight cubic yards.
What types of items are considered acceptable items for a bulky waste collection?
Samples of acceptable items include furniture; mattresses; electronic equipment such as computers and televisions; household appliances; tires (limit 4); limbs, tree trimmings and stumps cut to less than five feet long and less than 18 inches in diameter and remodeling debris from small projects performed by the resident at the address where the materials are set out.
What types of items are not acceptable bulky waste items?
Samples of non-acceptable bulky waste items include automobile parts; batteries; liquids; poisons; explosives and contractor remodeling and demolition debris such as shingles, wallboard and lumber.
