Are my refuse and recycling carts serviced at the same time on my collection day?
Your refuse and recycling carts are not collected at the same time on your collection day. 

I have twice-a-week service and need to know my primary and secondary collection days.
Your collection schedule is online, or you may call 311 during regular business hours to learn your collection days.

If I have twice-a-week service, what materials are collected on my primary and secondary collection days?
On your primary collection day refuse, recycling and yard/green waste will be collected. On your secondary collection day, only refuse will be collected.

How do I report a missed collection or service problem?
Please email Tulsa311@cityoftulsa.org or call 311 to report a missed collection or service problem.

What time should I place my refuse, recycling and yard waste out for collection?
Please have your refuse, recycling and yard waste out for collection by 5 a.m. on your stated collection day. Please note that all yard waste must be placed at the curb, regardless of service level.

How do I dispose of my trash if I have not yet received my city-issued carts?
If you are curbside customers, please bag your refuse and place at the curb for collection on your collection day. Backyard customers may place their bagged refuse at their designated collection location on their collection day.

What is the difference between backyard and extended backyard service?
Backyard service is collection service provided between 5-100 ft. from the curb. Extended backyard service is collection service provided that is more than 101 ft. from the curb.

How long will it take for my refuse and recycling to be collected once I report a missed collection?
It will take no longer than 72 hours (3 business days) from the time called for the City of Tulsa to service a missed collection. 

Will my trash and/or recycling be collected on holidays?
There will be no residential refuse and recycling collection service on the following City-observed holidays: New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. (Holiday Schedule)

If my service day falls on or during the week of a city-observed holiday, when will my trash be collected?
During weeks that include recognized City holidays, the collection day will be pushed to the following day to accommodate the disruption in scheduling. (Holiday Schedule)

Will all carts fit through my gate?
We realize that there will be unique situations when a specialty fence cannot accommodate larger carts. You may call 311 during regular business hours to schedule a visit with a Refuse and Recycling Services inspector to discuss a collections solution for your household.

What do I do if my city-issued refuse and/or recycling cart is damaged by either the hauler or through normal wear and tear?
The refuse and recycling carts provided by the City of Tulsa have a warranty. If damaged, please call 311 during regular business hours to have the cart(s) repaired or replaced.

How do I change the size of my refuse cart?
To change your refuse cart size please email Tulsa311@cityoftulsa.org and include your account number and customer ID.

Can I request to have a second 96-gallon refuse cart?
Yes. You may request a second 96-gallon refuse cart for an additional monthly fee of $6 per month. To order additional carts please email Tulsa311@cityoftulsa.org and include your account number and customer ID.

May I order additional recycling carts?
Yes. To order additional recycling carts please email Tulsa311@cityoftulsa.org or call 311. No additional monthly service or cart-set fee(s) will be applied.

May I use my personal container(s) to dispose of trash or recycling on my collection day?
No. Refuse will only be collected in the gray cart provided by the City of Tulsa.

How do I dispose of trash that does not fit inside of my refuse cart?
To dispose of trash that does not fit inside your refuse cart, please bag the trash and apply an orange 'Extra Refuse' sticker to each bag. Bags must not exceed 40 pounds in weight. Extra Refuse stickers may be purchased at City Hall, 175 E. 2nd St. or at any area QT location in Tulsa.

What do I do if I have large items that do not fit inside of my refuse cart or in a bag?
To dispose of large items that do not fit inside of your refuse cart, you can schedule a Bulky Waste pick up for just $10. Online Form 

Do I have to bag trash that I place inside of my refuse cart?
Yes, trash must be substantially bagged (per ordinance).

How do I dispose of an old personal trash container(s)?
To dispose of your old personal trash container(s), please place the empty container at the curb with an orange 'Extra Refuse' sticker on it.

Who do I call to report an illegal dump site?

Can I bag shredded paper and place the bag in my recycling cart?
Yes. You must place it in a sealed paper sack or sealed transparent plastic bag to assist with litter control. Shredded paper is the only item that may be bagged and placed in your recycling cart.

Do I have to flatten my aluminum cans before placing in my recycling cart?
Please do not crush or flatten aluminum cans before placing inside your recycling cart as doing so may interfere with the recycling recovery process.

What is yard waste?
Yard waste is defined as organic or garden material such as leaves, grass, plants, branches and hedge trimmings.

Who do I contact if my yard waste was not collected?
To report a missed yard waste collection, please email Tulsa311@cityoftulsa.org or call 311 during regular business hours.

Where should I place my yard waste for collection?
All yard waste must be placed within four feet of the curb, regardless of service level, to include backyard, extended backyard or physically limited service.

What are my options for yard waste disposal?

Where can I find transparent bags for my yard waste?
Currently transparent bags may be found at most local retail establishments. Bags must be strong enough to hold the contents.

How do I dispose of sticks and branches?
Please tie sticks and branches into 4'x2' bundles weighing no more than 40 lbs. and place to the curb for collection.

Will the City of Tulsa collect yard waste that is placed outside of my refuse cart if it is not placed in a transparent bag?
Excluding bundles, the hauler will only collect yard waste that is placed in a transparent bag so that the contents may be verified to ensure proper disposal.

How do I schedule a bulky waste collection?
You can schedule a bulky waste collection online or by calling 311 during regular business hours and speak with a customer service representative to schedule your service.

When will my bulky waste item(s) be collected?
You can schedule a bulky waste collection online at least two business days prior to your primary service day. The collection of bulky waste items will occur on your primary service day.

Is there a cost associated with a bulky waste collection?
Yes. A $10 charge will be applied to a customer's utility bill for a bulky waste collection per eight cubic yards. This fee is not assessed per item but rather the volume of approximately eight cubic yards. 

What types of items are considered acceptable items for a bulky waste collection?
Samples of acceptable items include furniture; mattresses; electronic equipment such as computers and televisions; household appliances; tires (limit 4); limbs, tree trimmings and stumps cut to less than five feet long and less than 18 inches in diameter and remodeling debris from small projects performed by the resident at the address where the materials are set out.

What types of items are not acceptable bulky waste items?
Samples of non-acceptable bulky waste items include automobile parts; batteries; liquids; poisons; explosives and contractor remodeling and demolition debris such as shingles, wallboard and lumber.

Who coordinates and collects bulky waste items?
The City of Tulsa coordinates, schedules and collects bulky waste items.

How do I report the removal of a dead animal from public streets or private property?
Please email Tulsa311@cityoftulsa.org with the exact location of the animal. Animals must be placed at curb in a bag or box.   

Does the City of Tulsa offer a special service for those who may have a short or long-term physical limitation that prevents an individual from placing their refuse and/or recycling cart(s) to the curb on their collection day?
Yes. The City of Tulsa offers a special collection service for residents who are unable to safely place their refuse and recycling at the curb on their collection day due to a physical limitation or disability. Under this program, an approved resident may receive once-a-week backyard or extended backyard service for the curbside rate.
