Information from 17,000 City of Tulsa employees, retirees, and terminated/resigned employees was shared to the dark web in the form of payroll files from 2017
The data breach shared personal information of those employees, which contained names, addresses, email addresses, and social security numbers (no dependent information was shared)
Here’s what all employees should do:
Regardless of your year/status of employment, the best way to check if/what information was shared is to input your name and last four digits of your social security number to this website: https://www.cityoftulsa.org/apps/ExposureLookup
Closely monitor your credit and financial accounts and consider putting additional authentication measures in place for all of your financial accounts, which can include beefing up your passwords and increasing security measures within your apps and website accounts
If your information was shared:

If you have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK), consider enrolling in their free Identity Protection Services program. If you are not covered through BCBSOK, talk with your health insurance provider and credit agencies to see what protection services they may provide.
If you are enrolled in BCBSOK, here’s how to enroll:
NOTE: BCBS Identity Protection Service is not accessible on the BCBS app.
If you do not have a BAM account, you will need to go through the registration process on the BCBS website.
Select Identity Protection in the Quick Links.
Upon first viewing, an activation code will display, allowing members to enroll in the program. The member can enroll up to 10 dependents (18 years of age or younger) per activation code.
BAM will display the same activation code for up to 12 months and include an expiration date.
