Volunteer opportunity description:
Rise up for reading. Reading Partners believes that our communities do better when all students have access to high-quality learning opportunities. By providing one-on-one, individualized reading support to students who’ve been most impacted by systemic barriers, Reading Partners seeks to disrupt educational inequity and create a brighter future where all students have the critical reading skills needed to prepare them for academic, social, and civic success.
Our students will inspire you. We provide volunteers with a structured curriculum, training, and ongoing support to help you and your student succeed. Rigorous research has proven that Reading Partners’ students significantly increase their reading proficiency while in the program. In fact, in 2019, 85% of all Reading Partners students met or exceeded their primary end-of-year growth goals.
Volunteer requirements:
Volunteer just over an hour per week to empower a student through reading. Reading Partners is seeking volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with students through a new online tutoring platform, Reading Partners Connects. The Reading Partners Connects program pairs one student with one volunteer tutor to meet weekly in an online learning environment. No teaching experience required and anyone over the age of 14, residing in an area proximal to Tulsa, can volunteer. Flexible volunteer times on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 8am and 3pm at various school sites.
