Centenarians of Oklahoma is a rapidly growing, nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to honor citizens of Oklahoma who are 100 years of age or older. We research (mostly via Internet) to find the centenarian, and then we honor them by having an induction ceremony where we give them a certificate, a biographical sketch, and a Golden Okie pin. We remember the centenarians for the remainder of their lives with birthday and Christmas cards, plus a special remembrance each year.
Boston University, Department of Gerontology, tells us that we are the only program in the United States which so honors the centenarians of their state. We are proud that there is something that Oklahoma does right, and that we are that program!
