STREET IMPROVEMENTS
TULSA'S ARTERIAL STREETS

Note: Access to businesses is maintained throughout a street construction project. During work on one entrance to a business, at least one other entrance will be kept open for customers.

New: East 111th Street, South Yale Avenue to South Sheridan Road: Street rehabilitation has begun, and workers will be flagging traffic during construction for the next three months.

Work on 111th Street is combined into one project with street rehabilitation on East 121st Street, also between South Yale Avenue and South Sheridan Road. The City of Tulsa has entered into a $985,411 contract with Paragon Contractors LLC for this project. Funding has come from both the 2005 and 2008 General Obligation Bond Issues. Work consists of milling - removing the old asphalt surface, making repairs where needed, and then applying a new overlay of asphalt.

Mohawk Boulevard, North Cincinnati Avenue to North Hartford Avenue street rehabilitation: From Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30, traffic on Mohawk Boulevard between Cincinnati Avenue and Frankfort Avenue will be changed to one-way, single lane. Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 26-28, traffic will be limited to one westbound lane only. Then on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 29-30, the same part of Mohawk Boulevard will be open to one eastbound lane only.

Completion of the project on Mohawk Boulevard between Cincinnati Avenue and Hartford Avenue is scheduled for February 2010. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has contracted with Becco Contractors Inc. for this $694,676 project, which has received funding through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. Work will consist of milling - removing the old asphalt surface, making repairs where needed, and then applying a new overlay of asphalt.

East 31st Street, South 129th East Avenue to South 145th East Avenue: Construction has begun on this street rehabilitation project, and workers are flagging traffic on this two-lane road. Completion of the project is scheduled for April 2010.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has contracted with APAC-Oklahoma Inc. for this $544,002 project, which has received funding through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. Work will consist of milling - removing the old asphalt surface, making repairs where needed, and then applying a new overlay of asphalt.

East 81st Street and South Harvard Avenue
: Work is under way to improve storm sewers and to repair concrete pavement. One lane in each direction is closed at the intersection. Also:

East 81st Street, South Harvard Avenue to South Yale Avenue:
Workers are flagging traffic during street rehabilitation.

This project, which includes both the intersection of 81st Street and Harvard Avenue and 81st Street between Harvard Avenue and Yale Avenue, is scheduled for completion in three months. The City of Tulsa has contracted with Pavement Conservation Specialists Inc. for this $1.2 million project funded by the 2005 General Obligation Bond Issue.

East Admiral Place, Sheridan Road to Memorial Drive: One eastbound lane and two westbound lanes are open; one lane remains closed until completion of pavement striping within the next three to five days.

The City of Tulsa has contracted with Paragon Contractors for this $4.6 million street rehabilitation project funded by the 2006 Third Penny Sales Tax. It includes removing (milling) the top road surface and applying a new layer of asphalt.

East 101st Street and South Memorial Drive: Construction has begun for widening East 101st Street just west of South Memorial Drive. The road will be widened from two lanes to five lanes, to match the recently completed east side of the intersection. Approximately 500 feet of East 101st Street will be closed west of Memorial Drive until Thanksgiving during this construction project.

The City of Tulsa and Tulsa County have joined in a cooperative effort to widen this intersection. The City of Tulsa is providing the cost of materials and Tulsa County is providing the labor for construction. Tulsa County has posted message boards in the project area to notify motorists of traffic conditions.

3200 S. Mingo Road: Bridge repairs are continuing at this location, and traffic is limited to one northbound lane for one month. This is one of seven bridges scheduled for repairs through a $774,372 contract with Becco Contractors Inc. Funding for the project has come from the 2006 Third Penny Sales Tax.

North Sheridan Road, from King Street to Pine Street: Street improvements are under way at this location, with one northbound lane and one southbound lane open and two lanes closed until completion of the project in two months.

This work is part of a project for street rehabilitation on North Sheridan Road between East Admiral Place and East Pine Street. The City of Tulsa has contracted with Paragon Contractors for this $2.2 million project funded by the 2005 Bond Issue.

West 41st Street bridge over Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, just west of Southwest Boulevard: Two lanes are open for eastbound and westbound traffic and two lanes are closed for replacement of the bridge deck, which is scheduled for completion in five months. This and repairs to another bridge on North Utica Avenue over the BNSF Railroad at about Haskell Place are combined in a $1.9 million contract with Becco Contractors Inc.

South Lewis Avenue, East Sixth Street to East 11th Street: A street improvement project is under way at this location, and construction crews are installing new waterlines. For the next month, one northbound lane and one southbound lane will be open for traffic, and two lanes will be closed.

This work is part of a project that includes North Lewis Avenue between East Pine Street and I-244, and South Lewis Avenue between First and Third streets, as well as between Sixth and 11th streets. The project includes waterline replacement, limited sanitary sewer work, removal of old pavement, new asphalt overlays and new traffic signals.

The City of Tulsa has contracted with Becco Contractors Inc. for this $4.4 million project funded by the 2005 Bond Issue. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for fall 2010.

South Lewis Avenue, East 31st Street to East 41st Street: Construction is under way for waterline replacement, sidewalk additions and street rehabilitation. Two lanes are open for northbound and southbound traffic and two lanes are closed for seven months.

This project consists of street improvements and water line replacement on South Lewis Avenue between East 31st Street and East 41st Street, and on East 41st Street between South Lewis Avenue and Riverside Drive. The City of Tulsa has contracted with Becco Contractors Inc. for this $4.9 million project funded through the 2005 Bond Issue.

Construction on South Lewis Avenue between East 31st Street and East 41st Street is scheduled for completion in May 2010. After work on Lewis Avenue is completed, the contractor will move to 41st Street between South Lewis Avenue and Riverside Drive. Construction on 41st Street is scheduled for completion in February 2011.

North Peoria Avenue, East 36th Street North to East 56th Street North: All lanes are open on Peoria between 46th Street North and 54th Street North. Construction has stopped temporarily for utility relocation at 56th Street North and Peoria Avenue.

The City of Tulsa has contracted with Paragon Contractors Inc. for this $3.6 million project funded by the 2005 Bond Issue. It includes replacing waterlines, removing (milling) the top road surface and applying a new layer of asphalt on North Peoria Avenue between East 36th Street North and East 56th Street North. Work at the intersections of North Peoria Avenue with 46th Street North and 56th Street North also includes better storm drainage, new traffic signals, turn radius improvements, sidewalk repairs and installation of wheelchair ramps. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2010.

Elgin Avenue between John Hope Franklin Boulevard and East Archer Street: This road is closed to through traffic during construction of ONEOK Field, the downtown baseball park where the Tulsa Drillers will play beginning in 2010.
