Greetings!
The nation is catching up to all that Tulsa has to offer! Forbes.com recently ranked Tulsa the 5th most livable city in America while basing their statistics on the quality of life measures in the nation’s largest continental U.S. metropolitan areas including: population, income growth, cost of living index, culture index, unemployment rate and crime rate.
As Tulsa continues to shine, the Tulsa Convention Center will celebrate its topping-out this week. The Convention Center houses Oklahoma’s largest ballroom and will be placing the last and highest piece of steel on the new ballroom. The construction will add a glass wall overlooking the BOK Center and add a corridor connecting it to the rest of the Tulsa Convention Center. The Vision 2025 project is expected to be complete in early 2010 and will add 52,200 square feet of rentable space to increase the number of events Tulsa can accommodate between the BOK Center and Convention Center.
I am proud to be your Mayor, and I encourage you to take an extra measure of pride in Tulsa, because together we are making Tulsa great!
Sincerely,
Kathy Taylor
Mayor
I Believe in Tulsa!
Community Meth Summit Addresses Tulsa’s Meth Crisis
Mayor Kathy Taylor brought together agencies, public safety officers and social services last night for a Community Meth Summit to begin a dialogue to address the growing meth problem. In the last three months, fires resulting from small meth production labs in apartment complexes have claimed three lives, including the lives of nearby residents, caused more than $700,000 in property damage and endangered the lives of children living in the home and near the household meth labs. Tulsa Police responded to 56 meth labs in the first three months of 2009, compared with 42 lab responses in all of 2008.

“With more than $2.2 million in outstanding parking tickets, we want to give Tulsa drivers a chance to pay their fines, without additional late fees or court costs, before more intensive collection efforts are launched,” the mayor said.
