Greetings:
This past week was a great week for Tulsa. We began to learn more about the funding coming to Oklahoma from the Recovery & Reinvestment Act and created a networking opportunity for local businesses and contractors who are interested in receiving the potential work. We are beginning to receive more information on amounts of funding from formula grants expected in Tulsa, and as those numbers and processes are more firm, we will post them online. I will keep you advised.
I was honored to be part of an announcement of a partnership between the George Kaiser Family Foundation and TU to advance scholarship and research for the National Energy Policy Institute based on the TU campus. This puts Tulsa at the forefront of the industry, where Tulsans will be involved in developing national policy on sustainable energy development.
If you attended Neighborfest last summer, you may remember our Bring a Friend to Tulsa registration. The winner received tickets on Southwest Airlines and event tickets at the BOK Center, among other donated prizes. On Tuesday, March 17 from 5 to 6 p.m., we will honor our winner and welcome her friends, Steve and Monique Burkett of the Kansas City area, at a reception. You are invited to stop by for light refreshments, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (and sponsored by Crowne Plaza), upper lobby.
Because this is a social occasion and an opportunity to bring more people to Tulsa to see the exciting changes here, we used our e-mail, Facebook and Twitter contacts to invite all of our friends online. We are exploring new ways of communicating directly to our citizens and are finding new uses for technology every day.
Sincerely,
Kathy Taylor
Mayor
You're Invited to "Bring
A Friend to Tulsa"
Mayor Kathy Taylor invites Tulsans to join her in welcoming Steve and Monique Burkett to Tulsa. The Burketts are Kansas residents and guests this week of native Tulsan Holly Yeagle, winner of last summer’s Bring a Friend to Tulsa contest. Yeagle’s name was drawn from among hundreds of Tulsans who participated in last summer’s Neighborfest celebrations.
Mayor Taylor is hosting the Bring a Friend to Tulsa reception, Tuesday, March 17 from 5 – 6 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 100 East Second Street in the upper lobby near the escalator. Light refreshments will be provided by The Daily Grill.

Free Short-Term
Parking At City Hall
To make it more convenient for Tulsans who come to City Hall at One Technology Center to pay bills or fines, more free short-term, public parking has been created adjacent to the building on Cincinnati Avenue between 1st and 2nd Streets.
Mayor Kathy Taylor announced Monday that more customers have found the City’s new home at One Technology Center and are coming there to do business. Curbside parking spaces on that block have been used by City employees for short-term parking of City-owned vehicles, but they have been redirected to other parking facilities to make more room for customer parking as close as possible to City Hall.
There is a 30-minute time limit for the free parking spaces.
