Greetings!
One of my priorities since taking office has been economic development. As we see downtown development spur from the BOK Center and ONEOK stadium, it is an exciting time to be downtown, especially for entrepreneurs and small business owners. With various programs such as the Mayor’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, BRIDGE, the North Tulsa Economic Development Initiative, FORWARD and many others, we see a need for support and acknowledgement of entrepreneurs.
I would like you to join me for our second annual BRIDGE Networking and City Business Expo, being held on February 26 & 27 at the Tulsa Convention Center from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. This networking expo provides opportunities for businesses to display products and services while connecting and gathering information from businesses and resources in the Tulsa community. We will also have the City of Tulsa’s Legal, Purchasing, Public Works and Human Rights Departments to provide information on doing business with the city. More information can be found online.
I hope you can join us to BRIDGE our businesses in Tulsa!
Sincerely,
Kathy Taylor
Mayor

Upcoming PLANiTULSA
Worshops Scheduled
The last half of this month will feature six more PLANiTULSA workshops for Tulsa area residents. Ice and inclement weather forced the postponement of three PLANiTULSA workshops previously set for January 26 and 28.
These workshops will bring to a close the workshop portion of the PLANiTULSA planning process. Information from the workshops will be analyzed and evaluated, then used to create plan scenarios. These scenarios will be offered for public consideration and comment later this spring.
BRIDGE Networking and City Business Expo Scheduled
Entrepreneurs and small business owners are invited to the City of Tulsa’s BRIDGE Business Networking Expo and Business Fair on Feb. 26 & 27 at the Tulsa Convention Center from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The second annual networking expo provides opportunities for businesses to display products and services while connecting and gathering information from businesses and resources in the Tulsa community.
Showcasing Black
History Month
February is Black History Month, a time recognized annually since 1926. Black History Month gives Americans of all races the opportunity to learn more about black history and its culture.
In Tulsa, until the early 1990s, Lacy Park was known as Lincoln Park. Land was donated for the use of a park, but parks had not been named after African-Americans at this time. This changed upon the retirement of Ed Lacy, a prominent African-American in the Tulsa community.
Greening Your Special Event
Tulsa Master Recyclers and the Mayor’s Green Team hosted a seminar last week on how to “green” your Special Event.
Information provided by numerous experts included tips on: reducing printing costs; placement of recycling containers; buying “green” giveaways; measuring environmental impacts; minimizing harmful chemicals; using alternative transportation; green hotels; and buying local foods.
The day long workshop attracted local service providers and interested citizens.
For presenter contact information and links to presentations, visit Greening Your Special Event online.

The half-day competition provides boys and girls, ages 8 – 13, the opportunity to participate in an exciting multi-sport skills competition in basketball, soccer, tennis and track & field. “Fun” is highly encouraged throughout the competition as kids compete in any or all of the four areas, which have been broken down into three age groups. Boys and girls compete separately. Registration is free, but each participant must produce a copy of a birth certificate to compete.
Eleanor Davy Carmack Potraits,
Now - March 1 at PAC
Painters, photographers, sculptors and other visual artists are kind of like the people who win the technical Oscars at the Academy Awards. You know their work, but you probably don't have a clue what they look like. Longtime artist Eleanor Davy Carmack wants to remedy this by introducing you to a few of her "behind-the-canvas" friends in the exhibit Portraits of Tulsa Artists and Their Art.
Volunteers Mediators Needed for Court System
Tulsa Municipal Court’s Early Settlement Mediation is recruiting individuals from the community who would like to serve the court system as volunteers to mediate disputes and lawsuits. Also sponsored by the Supreme Court of Oklahoma, this service helps with mediation cases including consumer/merchant, landlord/tenant, real estate, IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), neighborhood, family and divorce, and adult guardianship.
